Peace is a Blessing based on His Power!

Scripture Read: Psalm 29:1-11 Ascribe to the LORD, O sons of the mighty, Ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.  [2] Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the LORD in holy array. [3] The voice of the LORD is upon the waters; The God of glory thunders, The LORD is over many waters.  [4] The voice of the LORD is powerful,  The voice of the LORD is majestic.  [5] The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars;  Yes, the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. [6] And He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, And Sirion like a young wild ox.  [7] The voice of the LORD hews out flames of fire. [8] The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; The LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. [9] The voice of the LORD makes the deer to calve, And strips the forests bare, And in His temple everything says,"Glory!" [10] The LORD sat as King at the flood; Yes, the LORD sits as King forever. [11] The LORD will give strength to His people; The LORD will bless His people with peace.

Application: The word “bless” really caught me here. Peace is a blessing from a powerful God. The verses here testify of His great power and ability to cause tremendous calamity. They make it clear that He is the one and only King and they also make it clear that He is the source for peace. Only He can withhold calamity, restrain it, stop it, pull you out of it or take you through it. As it is with all of God’s blessings we should be living in a way that would open the door to receive those blessings. So as I am seeking peace and rest from Him I must realize my own part in that equation. Lord help me to live holy to open the door of blessing that I might have your peace.

The Ball is in My Court

Scripture Read: Psalm 34:11-14 Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.  [12] Who is the man who desires life, And loves length of days that he may see good?  [13] Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit.  [14] Depart from evil, and do good; Seek peace, and pursue it.

Application: What does this involve? How do I seek and pursue peace. Eternally I have peace with God through Christ, but what about that sense of peace each day from Him. If two nations desire to have peace with each other – they do not do the things that lead to war. Since God has done all that He can and is waiting on me – then the issue lies on me. Am I doing things that lead to war with God or peace. The issue here is how proactive am I to do the things that please Him. Ministry life is not the issue with me – it is my personal walk. Time in the Word, Time in Prayer, Just loving to be with God. Control of appetites. I must focus and pursue the life style decisions that lead to pleasing God. The more I please Him, the more I will sense His peace. Thanks Lord!
