“True” Faith should not include Presumption. The Claim Game! Pt 1

Are you standing on His promises or Claiming (Demanding) your will?

I would love to share just a couple of thoughts, because this issue has been used by the enemy to divide the Body, and to produce children of God that approach Him, not with confidence and expectation, but with arrogance and a demanding spirit, which exposes that it is NOT the Spirit of God.

Perhaps the best teacher would be the Lord Himself. His example of how to pray answers these issues.

Mt 6:8–15 “So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

Notice: Jesus states “Ask”…Not Tell Him, or Demand from Him…or “Claim” from Him.

Pray, then, in this way: Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

He begins with praise to the Father:

‘Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.

Here are 2 demands we can make: God’s Kingdom come, His will be done, on earth and in heaven.

BTW – whether we say this or believe it, It will be done! Nothing, and no one can frustrate God in doing what He has decided to do!

Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Then the Lord tells us to “Ask”, not demand, for our daily food, for the forgiveness of our failures, and for guidance, which includes being delivered from evil.

Interestingly, He attaches a condition concerning how our fellowship will work. If we forgive those who fail us and remain in fellowship with them, He will forgive our failures and remain in fellowship with us. He then ends with praise to the Father.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

The So What: Do you take time to quiet yourself before you meet with God? When you approach God to pray, how much of it is about Him? How much is it about you? When you meet with Him, do you feel awe, do you sense intimacy? When you talk to Him what terms do you use?God, Father, Lord, Papa? Do you see Him as High and Mighty while at the same time sense He is Intimate?
