☛ Probing Proverbs 6:9-11 But you, lazybones, how long will you
sleep? When will you wake up? A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a
little folding of the hands to rest— then poverty will pounce on you like
a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber. ☚
Wisdom is warning about our attitude in how we approach our
life.
This is not talking about getting enough sleep or rest for ourselves from
the business of life. God even set one day a week aside to emphasize the need
for that! This is addressing an attitude toward life that is not proactive or
productive.
This person puts priorities off, ignores important issues in life,
acting as if they will take care of themselves. There is always more time for
leisure; T.V., Video Games, Facebook or just partying in various ways. Term
papers, work projects, household projects, and even family needs can wait until
“I
find the time”!
Sadly, the majority of the time,
time itself surprises us because IT waits for no one! Then we find ourselves in
trouble. Most of us go through this difficult lesson several times when we are
young, but we learn and change. However, some never learn and leave a path of
heartache, disappointment and regret, before they themselves implode.
Wake Up!
Live life consciously! The Lord will make it worth the effort.
