The REAL Thing

Scripture Read: Psalm 28:3 Do not drag me away with the wicked  And with those who work iniquity; Who speak peace with their neighbors, While evil is in their hearts.

Application: Here I see the principle of speaking about peace with no real substance. I realize this passage is talking about someone speaking about peace toward someone else. But there is still a principle here. I can talk about possessing peace, but if it is only talk then it will show. The difficulty is drawing the line between normal human nerves and no peace. Many times the peace we talk about is no more then an attempt to console ourselves. This will not settle the heart. So what must I look for to make sure it is not just talk? What do I think about when my mind drifts? How is my sleep? Appetite? Especially when I am alone, am I as confident about things and restful as when I am in public. Help me to continue to examine this Lord. I need to have the real thing, not a cheap imitation of it.
