What can I do when things feel so out of control?

As we enter into another era of uncertainty – I thought it would be good to deal with the question of “What can I do when things feel so out of control.” I am going to share my thoughts in two devotions, the second I will                                                         post tomorrow.

The issue is our focus – nothing we do can change most of what is going on – but how we deal with it – is under our control

Consider:
I can control my attitude.  I can't control everyone's actions.
I can control today's calendar.  I can't control today's circumstances.
I can control my focus.  I can't control life's forecast.

During times like this, we need to remember that we have an almighty God that is Sovereign

* Interesting: Science tries to date the earth. Instead of getting mad it ought to thrill us. The dates are based on how long it would take the earth naturally to be the way it is, billions of years. Our God is so Almighty it took Him only 6 days!

The power of our Creator is beyond our comprehension.
* A strong earthquake has the same power as 1000 H Bombs!
* More energy than man has used since the beginning is put out by the sun in a second!
* A hurricane generates more power in 10 sec than the USA uses in electricity in a whole year!
* A child asked his teacher how much the earth weighed. The teacher told him and then he asked, “With or without people?”

This is what Sovereign means: Possessed of supreme power, unlimited in extent, Absolute

God’s Sovereignty does not take away our free choice! God allows us to flex our free choice and it may appear that we are in control, however, in reality, God controls the “Big Picture.”

Look at it like a ship going from the USA to Europe. You can go anywhere on the ship you desire; the bow, the stern, port side, starboard side, engine room, or the helm. Yet, the ship will still get to Europe!

Proverbs 16:33 The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord.

Jonah teaches us some great lessons concerning God’s Sovereignty:

{1} Something’s are non-negotiable

God knows everything about us and when we will leave this body:

Luke 12:6–7 Aren’t five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten before God. In fact, even the hairs on your head are all numbered. Do not be afraid; you are more valuable than many sparrows.

Job 14:5  Since man’s days are determined, the number of his months is under your control; you have set his limit and he cannot pass it.

Matthew 6:27 And which of you by worrying can add even one hour to his life?

God controls the boundaries of this earth!

Proverbs 8:29 when he gave the sea his decree that the waters should not pass over his command when he marked out the foundations of the earth,

We are not at the mercy of a virus, we are at the mercy of our loving and kind God!

This should produce comfort! We are in control of how we handle this virus…God is in control of the virus!

Be wise, do what you can to be safe, but go to Him and seek His protection.

The So What: I share this true story to encourage you:

In 1874 in Swan Quarter, N.C. a group of believers decided to build a church facility. They began praying and came upon the perfect piece of land. The owner did not like the Church so he said no! So they built on another piece of land up the road. In 1876 a violent storm hit. Afterward, the building was gone. Looking 300 feet down the way, the building was intact, undamaged, a little wet, but set down perfectly on the other piece of property! The owner changed his mind saying, "I am  not one to argue with God."
