Christmas 2024: #1 To grasp the meaning of Christmas
Having lived so many years in a region that sees Typhoons on a regular basis I
have gained much respect for God’s creation of roots. Winds that can pick-up
man-made objects, including houses, and carry them away. Yet, seeing trees bent
and branches broken, however, because of their roots remain alive to grow again.
Romans 3:23–24 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being
justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ
Jesus;
One of the many aspects I appreciate living with the Holy Spirit is that
He takes everything you are and that you enjoy which is part of your character
and teaches you how to apply it in your walk with God. I have always loved the
arts, especially the theater. So, living in this age of Movies and TV supplies
me with a lot to process and consider. From a show I watched I gleaned a phrase
which brought my mind to these thoughts as we consider what Christmas means to
us. At a family meeting in this show, a young man was told that his elders had
endeavored two main things in his life: To give him “roots and wings”. This is
the first thought I want to leave as I begin to post thoughts about Christmas.
Christmas is the “root” that any human, if willing, can possess in their life.
When God became flesh, He laid the foundation of a complete salvation for all
human souls. He did all the work; nothing was left to chance! Then He offered
that salvation as a gift Ephesians 2:8–9 For by grace you are saved through
faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 it is not from
works, so that no one can boast. After His resurrection He entered any human
that trusted in Him and made them His Temple. This gave us fallen humans’
“wings” to accomplish Eternal works and produce Eternal fruit! The So What: Make
yourself “slow-down” enough this Christmas season to thank your Creator for the
roots He gave you, and contemplate what are you experiencing with your wings!
